About The Organization

oneENCpride

Mission: The newly emerging oneENCpride, is an evolving unification from various rural, multi-county LGBTQ+ grassroots organizations and community centers seeking solidarity, safety, and strength from one another. oneENCpride embodies the spirit of community building and shared resource allocation through a regional-to-rural outreach approach that encourages, supports and advocates for the well-being and acceptance of marginalized communities with special attention to sexual, gender, and racial minorities in the Eastern North Carolina (ENC) region. Through collaborative community service, recreational, educational and cultural activities centered in the arts, music and theatre, individuals are introduced to positive and creative outlets for self-expression that are non-violent and individualistic while housed within a community of support. As part of our commitment to equity and inclusion, we are expanding and diversifying our programs to reflect issues of intersectionality, implicit bias and racial justice. We aspire to offer help with understanding LGBT culture, history, and health outcomes in ENC by using the lens of the social determinants of health. We seek to address legal and legislative concerns, and issues around increasing safety, therefore providing a therapeutic and gender-neutral environment for LGBTQIA healthcare, & HIV testing, counseling, treatment and support as a continuum of healthcare.

For marginalized individuals, there is often no easy way to identify those who might be supportive to them. Many in the community experience isolation and loneliness. Even locating basic information can become risky and logistically difficult when there are few networks, directories, or resources. We strive to close this resource gap as a path to solidarity, safety, and strength in ENC communities.
