About The Organization
One Billion Rising Austria
In 2012, Yvonne Birnbaumer, Ewa Dziedzic, Aiko Kazuko Kurosaki and Jenny Simanowitz came together as private initiators and on February 14, 2013, One Billion Rising Vienna took place for the first time in front of the Austrian Parliament in Vienna. In April 2014, "1 Billion Rising Austria" was launched as a working group.
In 2015 the association One Billion Rising Austria - an artistic campaign for an end to violence against women* and girls* (OBRA for short) was founded under the chairmanship of Aiko Kazuko Kurosaki. OBRA now organizes the action highlight in Vienna every year - but OBRA is also involved - networks with other OBR initiatives in Austria and activist groups such as Platform 20000 Women, Attac, Amnesty International Austria, Global 2000, System Change not Climate Change, Femme Fiscal , Platform for a humane asylum policy, etc. - throughout the year to raise awareness and break the taboo on this topic.
