About The Event
“1 in 3 women have been beaten or raped in her lifetime. That is 1 billion women. Every February, people rise in many countries across the globe to show their local communities and the world what one billion looks like and shine a light on the rampant impunity and injustice that survivors of rape and abuse most often face. People rise through dance to express joy and community and celebrate the fact that they have not been defeated by this violence. Everyone rises to show determination to create a new kind of consciousness – one where violence will be resisted until it is unthinkable” (Ensler 2022). This project falls under the category of human rights. One Billion Rising is an event that has been happening every year on February 14th in over 200 cities all over the world since 2013. It is officially hosted by the organization, V-Day. and people come together to do a dance that is supposed to be a symbol to rise against violence against women, young girls, and other gender-diverse people.

About The Organization
The International Academy and Boarding School of Denmark
We are an International Boarding School in Denmark with over 20 different nationalities.
Our intent is to start our own One Billion Rising at our school, The International Academy and Boarding School of Denmark, as well as in our sister school, Vedersø Idrætsefterskole in Vedersø, Denmark. We will attempt to encourage all 200+ students as well as the town locals to dance in solidarity against violence against women, young girls, and other gender-diverse people.
