Canada > Vancouver > TBA > 2017-03-08 > 06:00 pm

About The Event

We have danced-up positive vibes as part of One Billion Rising dance protest for the last 4 years in Van-City... and we are joining together again in solidarity, for our 5th Annual One Billion Rising Dance Revolution. Together we gather, and dance. Because many of us care about this issue and dont know what to do about it... This is an open and inclusive event welcome to all. **One Billion Rising happens around the world on Feb 14th and many of us in Canada, choose to hold our rising events on March 8th (International Womens Day) instead to Honour the The Women's Memorial Marches that have been happening all over Canada Feb 14 for over 20 years. Reach out to us if you would like to March in with us in the Annual Women's Memorial March Feb 14 "Nonviolence does not seek to defeat or humiliate the opponent but to win friendship and understanding... The aftermath of nonviolence is the creation of the beloved community," Martin Luther King Jr. https://www.facebook.com/events/1662305257396214/

About The Organizer

Theresa "Tree" Walsh

Theresa "Tree" Robyn Walsh (BFA, BEd, & MEd Candidate) has been teaching and facilitating for over 20 years in schools, summer camps, community centres, and studios in Canada and the United States. As a strong advocate for collaborative, arts based, experiential, democratic and outdoor education, much of her work is focused on developing community in arts and educational contexts, and creating consent based learning environments that promote inspiration and creative engagement, instead of obligation. As a Community Engaged Art for Social Change facilitator, she cares most about helping people, kids and adults alike, to connect with their deepest values and passions, and to learn how to make positive changes in their lives and the lives of those around them, in order to help make the world a better place.

"Nonviolence does not seek to defeat or humiliate the opponent but to win friendship and understanding... The aftermath of nonviolence is the creation of the beloved community," Martin Luther King Jr.
