About the Event
Our One Billion Rising Event takes place for the sixth time. This year more than 350 young people will rise. They are students from Fontys School of Fine and Performing Arts (departments Dance Education and Musicaltheatre), but also students from secondary schools 2college Jozefmavo, De Nieuwste School and Willem II college and people from refugee support center De Vrolijkheid are joining us.
At 12:00 our event starts at Pieter Vreedeplein in Tilburg. We start with dancing our own RISE (we use our own music and dance, which is created by students from the Fontys Rock Academy and Academy for Dance Education). Afterwards the dancers and the audience get 3 workshops: Hiphop, Boxing and Bollywood. This year we also made a new choreography on BREAK THE CHAIN, which will be danced by all students studying at the Fontys Academy for Dance Education. We conclude the event by dancing the RISE once again.

Fontys School of Fine and Performing Arts (in Dutch: ‘Fontys Hogeschool voor de Kunsten’, FHK) provides higher professional education on bachelor’s and master’s degree level in the field of art education and performing arts.
In close collaboration, teachers and students of the Fontys Academy for Dance Education organize the yearly event for One Billion Rising.
