Association for Human Rights and Active Citizenship PaRiter (Association PaRiter) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization that promotes human rights, culture of non-violence, tolerance, minority rights and gender equality by linking non-formal education, research and activism.
Association PaRiter was named after the Latin word “pariter” which means equally. PaRiter was founded in Rijeka, with the aim of raising awareness to human rights, but also to promote civic activism. In the first place we want to raise awareness of public and citizens about human rights violations that happens to minority groups and people with fewer opportunities on daily bases.
SOS telephone-City of Rijeka Association was founded in 1991 in order to promote, develop and improve help services for victims of all forms of violence and others in crisis situations. This was to be realized by providing legal aid, professional and laic psychosocial support (psychosocial support and help with social adjustment) and also by providing services for socially endangered people following special regulations. Other activities included work of The Advisory Centre, implementation of violence prevention programmes and psychosocial treatments as well as promotion of citizen awareness on issues such as equality of sexes, human rights and protection of violence victims
