We will also be dancing to music that is featured at One Billion Rising events around the world. Alysha Brilla is an Indo-Tanzanian-Canadian multi Juno-Nominated singer, songwriter, producer, yoga instructor, part-time clothing designer and a social justice advocate. Leading up to the event on Thursday, April 28th and Friday April 29th Alysha will conduct WORKSHOPS in local schools, West Hill Secondary School and Sydenham Community School helping youth explore gender equality, inlcusivity, cultural diversity, and kindness. Aysha will also be leading a YOGA CLASS and MEDITATION SESSION at HER Wellness Centre at 925 Second Avenue East on Thursday, April 28th at 7:30 PM. Please preregister by calling 519-270-7082. Alysha brilla is a certified RYT yoga instructor who has studied yoga & meditation in Rishikesh, India and across north america. Alysha incorporates traditional breathing techniques to induce a sense of calm and well-being into her students. This event is limited to 15 women to be there for 7:00 PM to prepare quietly prior to starting. The fee is $20 per person. These events will bring Owen Sound, Ontario into the conversation about domestic and sexual abuse of women, currently a globally trending topic, and raise awareness of it within the community. Spreading awareness of the fight against domestic and sexual abuse of women and girls is important. The number of women who are abused should be zero. Statistics are not known for the Owen Sound region but intimate partner violence and all other types of domestic violence is too frequent. The Women's Centre for Grey Bruce is consistently busy. The Women's Shelter is the same.

About The Organization

Mossy Gatherings Music and Education & HER Grey Bruce

Mossy Gatherings is an Owen Sound based not-for-profit concert and education association providing a mutually beneficial connection between performers, venues, and audiences. Through the efforts of our wonderful team of volunteers, we book, promote and host musicians in supportive and intimate settings, providing unique musical experiences and fostering a sense of community. Significantly, every musical event is accompanied by a social justice or education initiative. We also provide conferences on music empowerment and healing, and workshops with musicians in local schools exploring such topics as inclusivity, gender equality, and kindness.

HER Grey Bruce unites voices to Heal, Empower, and Re-educate women, girls and our community. Through the creative arts, presentations and planned events, we promote awareness and influence change by educating ourselves and our community about issues that affect us all.
