The oldest Canadian Women's Peace organization, Voice of Women for Peace, continues to inspire and open doors for Canadian women's participation and leadership in nonviolent social change. Voice of Women organizes Young Women's Peace Leadership camps for 15-35 year olds and delegations to the international gathering of women's organizations at the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women. Meeting and sharing research, stories and solutions with women from women's organizations around the planet in NY last year with the theme: Elimination of All Forms of Violence Against Women, like being part of the worldwide movement One Billion Rising is exciting and hopeful!
Established in 1960, Canadian Voice of Women for Peace (VOW) is a non-partisan Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) comprised of a network of diverse women with consultative status at the United Nations ECOSOC. For over 50 years, VOW has provided a means for women to exercise responsibility for the promotion of world peace and justice, through education of themselves and others to take an equal part in the democratic process of decision making; and to cooperate with women throughout the world to create the mutual respect and understanding necessary for the peaceful resolution of international conflict.
