1 Billion Rising - Guyana :Rising for Justice with the Caribbeans Sisters and Brothers, The S4 Foundation is joining the One Billion Rising International event for the second year running that is gathering women (and men) from all over the world to demand an end to all forms of violence against women on February 14. At the One Billion Rising Guyana event, the women of Guyana will stand in solidarity for JUSTICE with our Sisters in many other nations as we dance, strike, rise. At the event, women will share their stories, get information on services from local women's groups and obtain educational material that will encourage women to develop safe and happy lives lives that are free from violence. ONE BILLION RISING IS: A global strike, An invitation to dance in defiance of domestic violence, A call to men and women to refuse to participate in the status quo until rape and the rape culture ends, An act of solidarity, demonstrating to women the commonality of their struggles and their power in numbers, A refusal to accept violence against women and girls as a given, A new time and a new way of being. Kaierouann Imarah Radix

S4 is a fledgling Non- Governmental Organization. Its new Executive Director is Miss. Imarah Radix who was given charge of the organization in January 2014 by its founder who recently retired. As Programme Coordinator last year Imarah organized ‘One Billion Rising’ here in Guyana for the very first time. It was a huge success and very well attended. It was the largest event in the Caribbean and brought Guyana to the attention to the world.
Imarah studied at Oxford Brookes University where she obtained a BA in Political Science and International Relations. She then took a year off studies to represent Guyana at the Miss. World Pageant 2009-2010. After this she did her Masters (MSc) in Global Studies at the University of the West Indies. She then became the first woman intern at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in the office of the Resident Representative in External Relations and Communications. As a Global Shaper of the World Economic Forum, she brought ‘Peace One Day’ to Guyana on International Peace Day last year. She is a tireless advocate for Youth and Women. She was made an Ambassador for Peace by the World Peace Federation and awarded the Medal for Peace from the United Nations Association of Guyana. She has been selected to do important trainings in Agriculture last year which took her to Cave Hill Campus University of the West Indies in Barbados to do a Web 2.0 training and workshop for Caribbean youth funded by CTA (Technical centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation ACP-EU) and the second was the Training of Trainers in St.Lucia in Agricultural Extension by PIP/COLECAP. She is at present attending Fruit Logistica in Berlin and Brussels.After winning a full scholarship to the ‘One Young World’ summit in South Africa last year she was made an Ambassadorial Delegate and was the only Caribbean delegate who was asked to address the summit in the Human Rights Plenary .
