About The Event

Join us in the joy of movement to make a stand against violence towards women and girls. The Active Wellbeing Society is working with WE:ARE and Birmingham & Solihull's Women's Aid to bring you this year's One Billion Rising dance flash mob in Birmingham. Meeting on the pedestrianised area of the High Street between Three Store and The Gym Group, you'll be led by our dance leader Maxine. **Dancing starts at midday!!** You can either learn the routine using the resources on this site/YouTube or just join along in your own freestyle! The important thing is to be part of the movement and enjoy yourself! There will be members of The Active Wellbeing Society on hand to keep the event safe and importantly fun! We have permission from the council to use this space for this purpose and ask you all to respect the fact we are in a public space and act accordingly, including taking any rubbish away with you or using the bins provided.

About The Organization

The Active Wellbeing Society

The Active Wellbeing Society (TAWS) is a community benefit society and cooperative working to develop healthy, happy communities living active and connected lives.

Our vision is for a society where people have the autonomy, capacity, resources and skills to become the architects of their own destiny; where our individual wellbeing is recognised as being bound up in our collective responsibility to and dependency on each other; and where all of us feel empowered as agents of social change to make a difference – whether at an individual level or more widely.

By working collaboratively with communities we aim to bring about sustainable change on a social, environmental and economic level; to do the social knitting required to create stronger and more resilient communities and to support communities to identify, mitigate and remove the barriers that prevent them from living active and connected lives.
