About The Event
The event will take place in front of the Parking Garage. The event will start at 7:30am and will end at 9:30am.
We will learn the break the chain dance within the first half hour, followed by a speaker from The Springs Womens Shelter speakers. We will end the event with the "Break the Chain Dance." We will also have several organizations distributing information pertaining to Ending Violence Against Women.
We will hosting One Billion Rising at the James a Haley Veterans Hospital for several reasons. One of the main reasons I will be hosting One Billion Rising at the James A Haley Veterans Hospital is that women veterans go through many battles while at combat, many being raped, and/or beaten. Our women veterans need to know that there is help, and that we will stand behind them. There are many resources avaliable to these women, and I want to use this event as a source of information distribution as well as a chance to Unite us all.
We also have civilian women who also maybe going through domestic violence situations at home in silent. I want these women to feel as though they can RISE above this. We can RISE above the abuse.
About The Organizer

I am a survivor of Domestic Violence. I was in two seperate Abusive relationships within the last 8 years, one right after the other. I escaped 6 months ago, and have been rising ever since.
I Co-hosted One Billion Rising Last year while in an Abusive Realtionship, and remember thinking...There is a way out. Co-Hosting this event changed my life, and I hope that I can help another women make the same change by hosting One Billion Rising this year.
