Hailing from a small little ' Vrystaat dorpie', living in poverty, I had experience various forms of abuse. This pain fuelled me to write poetry. I was a semi-finalist in the 2009 Lentswe Project and wrote a poem about women abuse.
I have since compiled a collection of poems and memoirs, "Red in Awe" which is busy being loaded on Amazon and Kindle. The book explores various forms of abuse and I believe my voice is the voice of billions of women who don't have the means to escape their toxic environments due to circumstances.
Having travelled, I had been in the UK for four-and-a-half years. I had also taught English in DongYing,, China.
I had organised Sonja Kruse, the Ubuntu-girl, for Welkom High School, Welkom in 2011.
Poverty and abuse don't know wealth, race, religion nor status. It happens to all women from all walks of life. Hence I am organising this event in an area which is renowned for all forms of abuse. Being a teacher, I am facing the pain and agony of the children from these broken homes. It is my dream to plough something good back into this community. This will not only be a protest; this is an effort to create a consciousness to treat all sexes, races, ages and religions fairly and with respect. And this will not only be an event; sponsors are going to continue their work long after the protest had gone and the dust had settled. This is a community effort. A communal voice to shout that ELDOS IS RISING AGAINST WOMEN AND CHILDREN ABUSE.
