About The Event

On 14 February each year, in the centre of Preston Lancashire we stand together in solidarity to raise awareness of the one billion and rising violent attacks against women and children.” The Creative Communities Group UK first brought this event to Lancashire ten years ago and we have held it in the centre of the City, at the University of Central Lancashire and in the very heart of our community. This year the CCGUK held the event alongside their partners Salsa Northwest in Preston. The one billion rising dance routine was again co-ordinated by Salsa Dance champion Phil Kaila and his Salsa Northwest dancers. We also had additional support from Feixia Yu from the UCLan Confucius Institute and our university staff, students and honorary fellows. A special thank you to our VIP guest the Mayor of Preston, Mr Yakub Patel and thank you for the kind words and support.
