About The Event
SistahSpeak! Youth ProjectT™ will be hosting a YouthOpen Mic to End Gender-based Violence in collaboration with New Voice's annual One Billion BEEN Rising action for Women of Color HERStory Month ® & Njiameh Nije's Power(ed) by Grace: The Sankofa Series exhibit at Most Wanted Fine Art gallery, 5015 Penn Avenue in Garfield, on February 12, 2016, 5P8P. Join us at this fun, intergenerational event, which will not only include performance but also screen printing, a Cupcakes Most Wanted cupcake sale, and a youth-centered discourse about our community and what we as youth can do to end gender-based violence.
One Billion BEEN Rising is part of a global day of action, One Billion Rising, that brings together over 207 countries around the world to end gender-based violence against women, trans-women, genderqueer, and gender non-conforming people. This year we are elevating the voice of youth in our City and inviting our peers to an evening of celebration, expression and resistance, as we honor our stories and use our collective power to spark social change in our Pittsburgh community to end gender-based violence and create a world where violence will become unthinkable.
We are reaching out to local leaders, champions and partners like you that invest in the present and future potential of youth and/ or ending gender-based violence to, again, invite your presence and support of our One Billion BEEN Rising: Youth Open Mic to End GenderBased Violence on February 12, 2016.
