About The Event

ONE BILLION RISING 2021 RISING GARDENS is coming to Cornwall (online) as part of a global mass action to end violence against women (cisgender, transgender, and those who hold fluid identities that are subject to gender-based violence). Join from your gardens or sitting rooms and celebrate solidarity through action, art, connection, imagination and love. Choreography by Emily Alden Music by Julie Macara Time: 6pm (join from 5.30pm to re-cap the dance) Venue: Online via a secret link All welcome - Parental guidance as sensitive themes Price: Free to join, if you feel you can donate some funds please help to raise money for The Women's Centre Cornwall. Your money will go toward continuing to provide services to women and girls in our community to life free from abuse and become empowered to live the life they want for themselves. In 2020, over 2000 dancers, group leaders, dance and community groups and the general public from across Cornwall learnt the One Billion Rising - KERPOW dance choreographed by Emily Alden with music by Julie Macara. Over 250 people attended the main event in Truro & danced at this international event. This year KERPOW are leading this event again. To join us, sign up to a workshop or just learn the dance from the video (at the bottom of this page) and turn up. Just scroll down for more details. Dance teachers and community leaders - teach this to your group and feel free to bring your friends or have an online practice on your own. If you’d like to dress up for the event following the garden theme, please do. You can also dance in your garden, set up a garden related background or simply dance, or be with us where you can. No previous dance experience needed.
