About The Event
This Valentine's Day Nia Dance Jam and Fundraiser is in honour of One Billion Rising's inaugural launch on Valentine's Day in 2012! ! The dance is for everyBody- women, men, children - young, older and in-between and all fitness levels as it is adaptable to your body's way. Raising money for a campaign aimed at re-opening Women's Specialist Refuges in Sydney Australia and NSW, we also hope to raise people's level of involvement and commitment to creating homes and communities that are free of violence- nothing short of a revolution- which is One Billion Rising's Theme in 2015.
About The Organizer
Sharon Todd-Miller
I am one of a number of Nia teachers who will be leading our One Billion Rising Dance Event. Nia is a dance and lifestyle practice that focuses on the Joy of Movement and on moving and living in a body with awareness and wellness.
Based on a Martial Arts System of Belts- I have achieved my Nia Brown Belt level as a teacher-having completed White, Blue, and Green before. I look forward to doing my first degree Black Belt level in 2016. I am also training in Dance Therapy which is a recognised expressive arts approach and psychotherapeutic discipline.
