About The Event
ONE BILLION RISING began as a call to action based on the staggering statistic that 1 in 3 women on the planet will be beaten or raped during her lifetime. With the world population at 7 billion, this adds up to more than ONE BILLION WOMEN AND GIRLS.
While the National movement is on Valentine's Day, the Jeanne Geiger Crisis Center will assemble and invites the local community to gather with us at 4:00 pm, on Saturday, February 15, 2014, in The Tannery Marketplace parking lot, Newburyport, as our flashmob joins with activists around the world for ONE BILLION RISING, the largest day of action in the history of V-Day, the global activist movement to end violence against women and girls.

The Jeanne Geiger Crisis Center is a nationally recognized leader in the effort to end domestic violence and provide care for victims. For over 30 years, we have been providing advocacy and support services to families and the communities within the Greater Newburyport area. Our mission is to empower members of our community to live free from fear, intimidation, violence or the threat of abuse by providing support, advocacy and education.
