About The Event
Rally and Street Play at Bhaikaka Statue, Vallabh Vidyanagar, District Anand, Gujarat, India. Over 500 engineering students of MBICT, dressed in black, went on a silent rally with their lips sealed to express their concern over the rising attrocities towards women. They then performed a street play at a juncture of a busy cross road to bring in public attention and create awareness about increasing violence against women and female foeticide. The incidents of rape had increased by 50%, sexual harassment by 30%, and domestic violence by 20%, and dowry deaths by 75%, and female feoticide in India had increased to approx. 500,000 deaths per annum. A beginning to control these figures had been made by the girls over the OBR platform.
