About The Event

An evening of empowerment through speech, dance, drums, and networking, Lake County Rising brings together women and the men who love them as we Rise to end violence against women. Former Lt. Governor Sheila Simon will pay her banjo and sing womens empowerment songs, Dr. Ozella Barnes of A Safe Place is keynote speaker, students from Zion Middle School perform "Break the Chain", and Senator Melinda Bush, State's Attorney Michael Nerheim, and other dignitaries from throughout Lake County, Il will rise to speak out against violence

Nicasa is a non-profit, behavioral health organization providing prevention, education, early intervention, treatment, and recovery services for individuals, families, and communities in Lake County, Illinois and the surrounding area.

Founded in 1966, Nicasa is a nationally-recognized leader in the field of substance abuse prevention and treatment, and the promotion of healthy lifestyles through advocacy, training, and educational programming.
