About The Event
We are gathering on VDAY from 12:00 to !p.m and plan to show the inspiring VDAY video from 2013 and a portion of one of Eve Ensler's talks. Then a guest speaker, Monica Singh from India, currently studying in Kamloops, will talk about the One Billion Rising movement . We will then form a circle and do a traditional circle dance, ( with some instruction) like one we were taught in the Himalayan Foothill village we visited (near Nainatal) to the music "Breaking the Chains". The group we are connected with in India, will be dancing with us as well on Feb. 14Th and we hope to be able to post the video together on the One Billion Rising website.
About The Organization
Warren Atkinson Society
We are a very small non-profit society, created originally to support individuals in our community, struggling with addiction, housing and employment issues. We have expanded to become an international organization and are in the process of developing partnerships and programs with women's groups and NGO's in both India and Uganda.
