About The Event

This Februarys' Immersive Dance on Saturday 8th February 2:30 - 5pm is dedicated as a One Billion Rising event: "We want care, community, kindness, solidarity, inclusion, love – not endless wars, violence, suffering, divisions and destruction." During February, One Billion Rising takes place. One Billion Rising is the biggest mass action to end violence against women (cisgender, transgender, and those who hold fluid identities that are subject to gender-based violence). One Billion Rising is part of the global activist movement V-Day, which works at the interesection of art and activism. Let's dance for freedom and in solidarity! There is freedom in joy, there is freedom in tenderness, there is freedom in dancing! Through the teachings and tapestry of Movement Medicine®, we will dance our way back into connection with our hearts, return home to our bodies a little bit more, and reintegrate the mind, body, heart and soul intelligence. The spaces I offer are inclusive and welcoming. This is a space where we meet on the dance floor as we are. There is no requirement to be a ‘Dancer’, we are all dancers of our own lives. There is freedom within my sessions to dance and move how you want to move, whatever you’re feeling – all of you is welcome. FULL COST: £15 CONCESSION COST: £12 CONTACT ME DIRECTLY IF YOU WANT TO DISCUSS. About The Organizer

Carolyn E. Wood

Carolyn leads with her heart. Carolyn holds a deep level of compassion for others and their story. As a Movement Medicine® Teacher and Facilitator, Carolyn creates safe and dynamic spaces that support each person to express themselves in all their colours. Permissiveness and inclusivity permeate all that Carolyn offers. Carolyn brings her diverse experience and knowledge into her work, and she delivers with clarity and passion.

Carolyn draws on the medicine from her lived experience of sexual trauma and suicidality alongside her therapeutic training to empower her to be a companion through the darkness and has dedicated her life supporting those in crisis, as well as mentoring the supporters.

Carolyn has loved to dance since she was little, raving her way through the 90’s! Dance had been a place to run away to but the dance came hand in hand with the drugs that Carolyn used to escape the hidden pain inside. Giving up the drugs meant giving up dance at that time. When Carolyn found Movement Medicine in 2007, so began a deeper journey of embodied self-discovery.

Movement Medicine gives Carolyn a place where her truth can be expressed through her body. On the dance floor, she uses her whole body to express what is going on inside her. It is a blessing to let the body take over the reins for a while, unleashing the shackles of the logical mind. Movement Medicine feels like total freedom! Carolyn feels she comes home a little bit more each time she is on the dance floor and her pure joy is palpable!

Carolyn harnesses Movement Medicine within her psychotherapy work. She brings embodiment, heart connection and nature into her practice supporting the reconnection to an individuals' unique powerful resources for transformation, to hope and to re-embody ones' true self.

The power of Movement Medicine is on and off the dance floor!

Carolyn identifies as a queer cis-woman and specialises in working with and holding space for LGBTQIA+ individuals and communities.
