Grenada is Rising for Justice!
Grenada National Organisation of Women (GNOW) and Groundation Grenada invites you to a Sundance Rising Viewing Party at 5.00 p.m. on Thursday 23 January 2014. This very special event will be held at the Marryshow House in St. George's.
At the party, a series of short, memorable films will be screened. The featured film however is entitled 'One Billion Rising for Justice,' with music and dance from 207 countries around the world to show the power, energy and solidarity of people demanding justice for all women and girls to end violence against them.
The film shows us a unique event. Never before has there been such a global show of unity, passion and support for women's desperate cry to stop abuse and violence. Mental and physical violence towards women knows no boundaries or borders. Statistics show 1 in 3 females, amounting to 1 billion world wide, will experience violence against them, it happens in every corner of our world and in every society, whether rich or poor.
The party is free to all. However, snacks will be on sale and the money received will go to help fund the cost of hiring Marryshow House.
Participants will be invited to share their our views on violence against women at home and in the wider Caribbean region. Interested persons will also find this an opportunity to connect with either organizations among others working to end violence against women.
