About The Event

9-12th grade teachers at The Brooklyn International High School will lead a series of workshops and discussions on gender equality, sexual harassment, gender based violence and girls' access to education. Teachers will use resources from TeachUNICEF, Educational Video Center (EVC), the Girl Rising movement and the novel, Sold, to help students to think deeply about these issues and prepare them to take action on V-Day. Our school's UNICEF Club members will be involved by assisting teachers during these workshops.

About The Organization

The Brooklyn International High School

The Brooklyn International High School is part of the Internationals Network for Public Schools. We are one of fifteen schools in New York City servicing recently arrived immigrant and refugee youth. Our students come from over 30 different countries, including Yemen, Iraq, Bangladesh, Pakistan, China, Haiti, the Dominican Republic and Mexico, among others. The mission of The Brooklyn International High School is to help English Language Learners (ELLs) to develop their language, intellectual, cultural, and collaborative abilities so that they may become active participants in today’s interdependent world. We strive to help every student reach his or her potential by fostering academic growth, personal growth, and tolerance.
