About The Event
The One Billion Rising: Rise for Revolution, the biggest mass action to end violence against women in human history, was launched on Valentine's Day 2012. It began as a call to action based on the staggering statistic that 1 in 3 women on the planet will be beaten or raped during her lifetime. With the world population at 7 billion, this adds up to more than one billion women and girls.
Join community members to perform the "Break the Chain" dance as one large group on March 4, in Flemington, around 4:30 p.m., (location to be decided). By joining this effort, you are bringing awareness to the global issue of violence against women, joining in community, creating dialogue and creating space to talk about this issue. This effort will help youth learn to stand up to violence and to become more aware of the problems n the world and how to begin to solve them in community. Plan a "Learn the Dance" party or gathering with friends to help each other learn. All the directions can be found at OneBillionRising.org.
