About The Event
Denver is Rising again in 2014, this time for justice. Various nonprofits will be on hand to speak briefly, as the organizer desires strongly that this be a jumping off point for people to get involved locally. We will have a flashmob, community dance, speakers and performances. Featured speakers are Mayor Michael B. Hancock and LadySpeech Sankofa. Featuring special guest DJ, John Michael Wasmer. Special thanks to Angie Durlin, Meg Fossinger, QueenBe Yates, Christy Daniel and A'ra Lippitt Blair for their help with organizing. Beth Leyba is a Denver native and single mom to two awesome kids. She blogs about health, exercise, nutrition, authenticity and finding radiance at The BETH Approach, and is currently pouring her passion and talent into being a Volunteer Coordinator for One Billion Rising; the global movement to end violence against women, as well as volunteering at Urban Peak, Denver's only youth homeless shelter.
