Beth Leyba is a community activist, writer, and mom who has planned successful One Billion Rising events in her hometown of Denver since its inception in 2013. Her goal as an organizer has been to bring together all of the individual activists, nonprofit organizations, and groups in the Denver area who are working to end violence against women. In 2014, Denver Mayor Michael Hancock spoke at our rally, announcing the Rose Andom Center, which will be a one stop spot for women experiencing domestic violence to come and seek justice and support. She is incredibly grateful for the opportunity to organize and coordinate these events, and hopes that people will be inspired to get involved within their communities. She extends thanks to her growing network of community members who have helped in bringing these events to fruition - particularly renowned local poet and activist LadySpeech Sankofa, Erin Prince, Christy Daniel, Stacey Bloomfield, Jim Norland, Kendra Hengel, Caitlin Brozna-Smith, Angie Durlin, and A'ra Blair.
