About The Event
On Valentine's Day, we rise up in conjunction with One Billion Rising and Groundswell in music, poetry, dance and action to declare that #RevolutionaryLove is the call of our times.
We declare our LOVE for all who are in harm’s way. We declare LOVE for our opponents. We declare LOVE for our bodies.
Join Nia black belt, physical therapist and embodied prayer leader Rachael Resch in the Joy of Movement Movement! Cultivate resilience and non-violence within your own body to help heal the body, heart, mind and spirit of humanity during these troubled times.
Dance barefoot to love songs, spirituals, music from the civil rights movement and from around the world. Hear inspirational poetry from Rumi, Hafiz, Kabir and Wendell Berry. Renew your soul. No previous dance or movement experience is necessary.
“Through joyful movement we’ll cultivate love and non-violence towards our own bodies to help heal the body and spirit of humanity during these troubled times,” says Resch. “We’ll create personal and community sanctuary from which a movement movement can flourish.”
The Nia Technique® is a transformational fitness and self-healing practice based on joy of movement, developed in 1983 by Debbie Rosas and Carlos AyaRosas. Nia blends nine specific movement forms from dance, martial arts and healing arts, such as modern dance, Tai Chi and yoga.
