About The Event

Dance with whistle blowing will be performed on 14th February 2018 from 2-3 PM at Shantibatika, Kathmandu, Nepal. In this program, more than 3 hundred young people will dance up to 30 minute in street in songs related to gender violence and blow the whistle up to half minute. The core objective of this program is to sensitize the general public along with policy makers against the gender based violence, exploitation, injustice and discrimination prevailing in society. In this programs, any interested person committed against gender-based violence and discrimination can involve. Further, we have planned to have good coordination and collaboration with other like minded organizations including ActionAid Nepal and Media to make this program effective.

About The Organization

Youth Advocacy Nepal (YAN)

Youth Advocacy Nepal is a movement-based youth organization dedicated to protecting and promoting youth rights though advocacy, campaigns and capacity development. With the initiation of energetic and vibrant youth, it is registered in Kathmandu District Administration Office (DAO) and Social Welfare Council (SWC) in 2013. We are one of the leading advocacy organizations working in the field of youth development. Our thematic focus areas include education, disaster risk management, climate change, employment, entrepreneurship, gender, and social inclusion.

Under the above mentioned themes, we, in partnership with Ministry of Youth and Sports, ActionAid Nepal and various likeminded organizations, are executing innovative programs that enrich the lives of Nepali youth and society on the whole. Our current program offerings include Youth Dialogue Series, Youth Democracy Camp, Youth literacy campaign, Youth Entrepreneurship Camp, Disaster Response Program, Youth Advocacy and Leadership program, safe city campaign, Anti-street harassment campaign ,Youth Civil Society Strengthening Program etc.

About The Organizer

Naren Khatiwada

Mr. Naren Khatiwada,35 years of old, has been engaging in the field of Human Rights, Peace, Democracy and Youth Development for 15 years. Currently, he is working as president at Youth Advocacy Nepal (YAN). In addition to it, he has been coordinating various programs like safe city campaign, anti-street harassment campaign and among others in Nepal for eliminating the gender based violence and discrimination prevailing in society.
