Dance Church Ann Arbor | Feb 16 | Raise the Vibration

United States > Ann Arbor > Arthur Murray Dance Studio > 2020-02-16 > 01:00 pm

About The Event

✨We are offering a special session of Dance Church on February 16 in honor of Vday and 1 Billion Rising. The entrance fee is $5-$25 at the door. Cash only. ✨ Dance Church will donate proceeds to benefit SoapUp Washtenaw - the local chapter of Save Our Adolescents from Prostitution. ✨Arthur Murray Dance Studio is located at 5060 Jackson Road. ✨We’ll open the circle with Eve Ensler’s call to rise up and close with, “My Revolution Lives in This Body”. We’ll raise the vibration with Ecstatic dance. The practice is 75 minutes and the playlist will reflect these themes of liberation. ✨This is a devotional and improvisational form of Ecstatic dance and no prior dance experience is needed. ✨We primarily explore dancing solo, building our capacity to delight in the flow state. Dancing with others is welcome too and we have guidelines to ensure consent and respect are at the heart of shared dancing.✨We silence our conversations during practice, move with what’s arising in the present moment and welcome singing along to the playlist.✨Dance Church is a criticism free space where we welcome freedom of expression without competition, judgment or shame. ✨At any moment, a dancer can pause at the perimeter of the space to rest or meditate in stillness. ✨We‘ll complete our practice with reflection on our commitment to rise up, end exploitation and raise our collective vibration as we journey on. ✨We strive to begin promptly at 1 pm and end at 3 pm to restore the space. You're invited to arrive and depart at any point in between. ✨ Ear plugs are available at the front desk if you need a sound barrier from the volume of the music. ✨We dance in bare feet - no street shoes. ✨Please respect air quality as we dance and do not wear fragrances or heavy smoke on clothing. ✨This is a sober and substance free event. ✨Dance Church is not affiliated with any religious or spiritual organization and is welcoming of all.
