Abortion rights are in a state of emergency! Recent years have seen extreme and unprecedented restrictions on women’s right to abortion. Clinics across the country have been forced to close through unjust laws and anti-abortion violence. Women and staff are shamed, harassed, and threatened on their way into the clinics that remain. Christian fascist politicians nearly shut down the entire government in order to cut funding to Planned Parenthood. Women are once again risking their lives to self-induce their own abortions. Eight doctors and clinic staff have been murdered by anti-abortion fanatics. And major Supreme Court cases are expected to soon determine the landscape of abortion rights for years to come. And now, #ColoradoSpringsShooting.
The time is NOW to stand up for abortion on demand and without apology, and STOP the war on women.
Each year, tens of thousands of anti-abortion fanatics march against women’s right to abortion and birth control on the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion. Be part of standing up in counter-protest, letting the world and the powers that be see and feel our demand that abortion be available to every woman who needs one without shame, restriction, or stigma.
Having a child can be a beautiful thing, if a person is ready for a child and wants to have a child. But, forcing a woman to have a child against her will is a form of enslavement. It traps women in abusive relationships, drives them into poverty, forces them to give up their dreams and forecloses their lives. Denying women the right to decide for themselves when and whether to bear a child is a keystone of the entire web of outrageous degradation, violence, rape, discrimination and oppression that women face in this society.

Stop Patriarchy is a group for everyone who wants to FIGHT to STOP the enslavement of women. Not politely lobby against it. Not grumble at the TV. Not simply post things on Twitter. And definitely not sit around waiting for those in power to “come to their senses.” It is also a movement for everyone who can be won to see the need for this – we are fighting aggressively to change minds and to grow and deepen and escalate until we succeed in changing everything.
