About The Event

We want to know how cultural portrayals of sex (good and bad) impacts on individual and collective understanding of sexual consent (good and bad). We’ve got a range of speakers from a variety of backgrounds and expertly holding it all together will be Holly Dustin, Director of the End Violence Against Women Coalition. Confirmed Speakers include Fiona Vera-Gray from RASASC; Feminist Activist and campaigner, Zak Jane Keir; Erotic Fiction Writer and Feminist involved in Feminists Against Censorship. The mighty Jean Hatchet radical feminist speaking on cultural misunderstandings of consent and sharing her experience of male backlash.

About The Organization

Consent in the City

A grassroots campaign organised by the Sussex specialist VAWG services Rise UK and Survivors' Network designed to deepen understandings of sexual consent.

When it comes to sex we want to try and move the goalposts from waiting for “no” to looking for “yes!”

We’ve been motivated by the incredible interest in the 50 Shades of Grey trilogy and the upcoming film. Something has happened! Women in our city have been given permission and are interested in talking about sex and we want to capitalise on it by promoting active, enthusiastic sexual consent. We want women to talk about pleasure, sex and saying yes rather than expecting women to say no.

So lets read, talk and think about our sexuality, what we want from sex and what we like.
