About The Event

A FREE EVENT OPEN TO THE PUBLIC This is the third annual event, hosted by Springfield College-Tampa Bay Campus, in solidarity with the OBR theme. The event is facilitated by faculty and students committed to our mission of social justice. While this event acknowledges the devastating effects of violence against women by highlighting statistics, testimonials, resources, and local service providers, it goes beyond that. We also offer a message of hope which encourages women to reclaim the essence of themselves that violence steals. We encourage our campus and surrounding communities to evoke the simple but profound theme of this year's campaign. Rise- Disrupt-Connect. To that end, we lend our voices to the global community and rise in solidarity. We disrupt the status quo by taking positive action within the boundaries of civil society. And we connect victims with resources and support and also connect with people of like mind and intention to create a society that is safe for women, now and in future generations. In keeping with the OBR tradition, we embrace the therapeutic power of dance, as a catalyst for healing, resistance, and liberation. The Dundu Dole Urban African Ballet Ensemble will make the ground reverberate with their rendition of the dance "Break the Chain" as together we RISE-DISRUPT-CONNECT! Please come out and join us in this reclaiming of our common humanity.

About The Organization

Springfield College- School of Professional and Continuing Studies

Since 1885, Springfield College has had a singular focus on educating students—in spirit, mind, and body—for leadership in service to others. We call it our Humanics philosophy. The world has changed since 1885, and we have, too. New academic programs, renovations, construction, and other major developments have ensured that we remain relevant to today’s students and society. One thing that hasn’t changed is our Humanics focus.

That means that we place great emphasis on helping students grow their whole person, enter fields that help others, and serve as leaders in their communities, organizations, and companies, at home and around the world. Offering bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees, Springfield College is the best destination for those seeking a well-rounded education, strong academics, experiential learning opportunities, and active and fulfilling co-curricular and athletic involvement.

The mission of the School of Professional and Continuing Studies is:
To provide broadly accessible higher education for adult learners that embodies the principles of Humanics, community partnership, and academic excellence to achieve social and economic justice.
