About The Event
Blacktown One Billion Rising was an amazing event! Blacktown has joined the global conversation to end violence against women ~ rising, dancing and drumming. Along with Blacktown Women's and Girls' Health Centre, participants in the event include John Robertson MP, Blacktown LAC officers, representatives of Immigrant Women's Speak Out, Phillipines Australia Community Services, Pam's Place, PAWA-Gabriella Filipino Association, Penrith Women's Health Centre, the WASH House and others. We also got some fantastic support from Blacktown City Council. It was a morning of fun and laughter with a serious message ~ raising awareness of violence against women, which affects one in three women around the globe. One Billion Rising events are being held around the world this week, most on Saturday, "V Day", but on Monday Immigrant Women's Speak Out will hold their event ... another great fun day! Thanks to all who joined and participated in Blacktown One Billion Rising. We'll be back dancing next year and hope to see you there
