About The Event

In 2013, one billion people in 207 countries rose and danced to demand an end to violence against women and girls. On International Women's Day (8 March 2013), 200+ women in Bangkok joined this campaign with a 'Break the chain' Flash Mob at BTS Siam (www.youtube.com/watch?v=WkiZQSlVaTs) In 2014, we are escalating our efforts, calling on women and men in Thailand to RISE, RELEASE, DANCE, and demand JUSTICE! Get ready and tell your friends to get their dancing shoes ready! We are going to RISE, RELEASE, DANCE and demand JUSTICE! Bangkok Rising is ready! JOIN US! Links to the Dance Instructional Video are listed on the right --> www.facebook.com/BangkokRising for more information.

About The Organization

Bangkok Rising

Bangkok Rising is a volunteer community organisation of women and men committed to projects and a community that promotes awareness about equality for men and women in Thailand and the elimination of violence against women and girls.

Bangkok Rising grew out of Eve Ensler's Vday movement One Billion Rising and theater piece A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant, and A Prayer. Specifically, these events focused on ending violence against women and children. Members participate in everything from weekly meet ups to annual events based on their choice level of involvement.

There are no requirements to be a part of Bangkok Rising other than a heart that yearns for and is willing to work for equality and the elimination of violence against women and girls. Never underestimate the value of your contribution :)
