About The Event
At our Rose Virginie Good Shepherd Centre, we ran a one-week programme to introduce the OBR campaign to the Unaccompanied Refugee Minors (URMs) from 7 to 13 February, 2014. Various aspects of the rights of women and children were explained to them and the importance of standing up to injustice. They viewed videos on the OBR event and saw how different parts of the world will be rising for Justice in the call to End Violence Against Women and Children. Animated discussions were held on the OBR theme "Rise, Release, Dance" and they learnt to do the OBR dance. The children have prepared messages through their drawings to be distributed to as many people as possible. These messages speak of their own experiences of violence and their desire for these exploitation to stop. As the children are not able to be in public distributing their messages, we have to be their voice.
At our centres in Kuala Lumpur and Kota Kinabalu, we are rising on 14 February 2014 through song and dance, together with the rest of the world, to say no to violence against women and children.
