The Office of Medical Student Wellness invites the Stanford community to join 1 Billion Rising, a solidarity movement demanding justice for all women and girls, and end violence against them. Since 2012, One Billion Rising organizers have organized dance flash mobs on February 14th to raise awareness about violence against women. V-Day’s One Billion Rising campaign defines itself as a global strike; a refusal to accept violence against women and girls as a given; a call to men and women to refuse to participate in the status quo until rape and rape culture ends; and last, but not least, an invitation to dance.
