About The Event
1 Billion Rising - Flagler Beach will be held on Sunday, February 19 from 1:00 to 2:30 pm. At this event, we will dance to rise as part of the 1BR world-wide revolution, in solidarity against exploitation of women. It will include more than an hour of soul-stirring music and joyful movement, combining elements of dance, yoga, and Tai Chi. Accompanied by uplifting music and empowering lyrics, the simple choreography is intended for people of all ages and abilities. There will also be a Nia flash mob, danced to the 1BR anthem, "Break the Chain". Join us as we rise with dance and song - a community that does not accept sexual and domestic violence. The event will be led by Nancy Kern, Certified Yoga and Nia instructor. All donations will go to the Family Life Center located in Flagler County, which provides no-cost services to individuals and families experiencing Domestic or Sexual Violence.
About The Organizer
Nancy Kern
Nancy Kern is a certified fitness instructor who specializes in dance and movement therapy classes for adults of all ages. The classes that she develops and teaches are primarily based on Nia, a fusion fitness format. Nia combines techniques from the dance arts, martial arts and healing arts into a dance experience that emphasizes self-healing and relaxation, as well as offering a unique workout for mind, body and spirit. Nancy offers dance and yoga classes at the Family Life Center, which houses abused women and their children.
