V-Day and South African filmmaker Tony Stroebel (One Billion Rising, The Man Prayer, Break The Chain) have come together again with the release of the short film, “Rising.” The film features video from risings around the world on 14 February 2013 and calls up the new campaign for justice.

One Billion Rising
ONE BILLION RISING [9 minutes, 10 seconds] is directed by V (formerly Eve Ensler) and Tony Stroebel, with activists in 207 countries, and is produced by V and V-Day.
On 19 January 2014, the official One Billion Rising 2013 documentary short will premiere at Sundance, the preeminent film festival founded by One Billion Rising supporter, Robert Redford!
In celebration, we invite you to host a Sundance Rising Viewing Party as a lead up to your 2014 One Billion Rising for Justice events. Gather activists, volunteers, community members, and organizations in houses, dorms, movie theaters, stadiums, auditoriums, parks, and malls between 19 January to 25 January to screen the film and help build momentum for this years initiatives, while honoring last years accomplishments.

Produced by V (formerly Eve Ensler) and V-Day, directed by Tony Stroebel, written and produced by Tena Clark with music by Tena Clark and Tim Heintz, and featuring dancer and choreographer Debbie Allen.
“Break the Chain” aims to raise awareness around the world about V-Day’s fastest escalating global campaign to date, ONE BILLION RISING. The ONE BILLION RISING campaign began as a call to action based on the staggering statistic that 1 in 3 women on the planet will be beaten or raped during her lifetime. With the world population at 7 billion, this adds up to more than ONE BILLION WOMEN AND GIRLS.
