ONE BILLION RISING 2026 – RISE FOR OUR BODIES, OUR EARTH, OUR FUTURE

Today on 25 November 2025, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and the first day of 16 DAYS OF ACTIVISM, we announce the 2026 theme as an invitation to survivors, artists and activists everywhere to RISE in 2026. The 2026 theme RISE FOR OUR BODIES, OUR FUTURE, OUR EARTH was inspired by feedback from global coordinators and rising activists worldwide and drafted by the One Billion Rising Council at their annual meeting.

A future not shaped by
weapons
greed
power
exploitation
corruption

But by
care
solidarity
community
connection
and peace

IMAGINE A FUTURE
where people are
equal
sovereign
valuable
free

A future without
patriarchy
domination
violence
oppression
subjugation
injustice
abuse
cruelty

IMAGINE A FUTURE
where the sacredness and potential
of all women,
gender expansive people,
children
and the earth
thrive and flourish
in abundance
in plurality
in safety
and dignity.

A future emboldened with
compassion
kindness
empathy
trust
and love.

This future demands another path.
A path that chooses
truth over silence
courage over fear
humanity over indifference.
A path that requires
endurance
wisdom
imagination
support
each other.

From today,
this moment
and leading up to 2026
(the 14th year of One Billion Rising),
We invite you to RISE
To make this imagined future REAL.

RISE
To dismantle patriarchy.
Understand its core.
End the roles we play that sustain it.

RISE
To transform architectures of violence.
Economic and political
class and race
religious and cultural.
To end participation in systems
that violate and occupy,
take and diminish,
exclude and destroy

Through art and education.
Listening and solidarity,
discussions and reflection,
rituals and sharing,
documenting and storytelling…
RISE
To create new realities
where people come into
their bodies,
beings,
sexualities
and imaginations.
RISE
To confront,
challenge
and transform
the systems we are prisoners to.
Until all people
and the earth
are FREE.
