Ashaba Percusión de Mujeres are a group made up of women from different musical experiences from Madrid , social and political . From these and our common interest in percussion began researching the scope of music as a tool for change. Thus we come to Ile Aiye , bloco afro Salvador , whose music fighting since 1974 for their rights as black community in Brazil. The energy felt after watching more than a hundred black breaking the silence with their drums made us ask if we women , in the situation we are living , we could not do the same .
And so we were born with the aim to support through music those actions primarily related rights and visibility of women in different fields (gender, social justice , ecology, economy of the common good , social, agroecology , sustainable mobility, etc. . ), but also those relating to ordinary society and aim to build a more just world for all people .
Our project aims to be a reference to those groups of women who have to give voice , in this case music , their claims, a contribution from culture to help identify , challenge and overcome our shortcomings . We interpret percussion style action of Brazilian and European batucadas blocos .
