My vision of justice is a world where people see the ugliest parts of society and are repulsed instead of amused. When we don’t hide the truth in a feeble attempt to make it untrue. Where victims are not treated as perpetrators, and where perpetrators are prosecuted as such. Where the media doesn’t facilitate and encourage violence against women, and where education has promoted understanding and fostered hope for a future without any violence at all. When we are brave enough as a society to acknowledge that we have a disease and to find a cure for our sickness. Our world is diseased and most of the planet doesn’t even know it. Without meaning to we have become accustomed to violence, numb to pain, we find humor in misery, and we revel in destruction. Our culture has become sadistic, even masochistic. We find ourselves in a terrible relationship, with someone who causes us constant pain, we know that this is wrong, that it is not our fault…But we keep trying to save this relationship, we keep trying to fix ourselves instead of our abuser and society encourages this at every step. It’s harmful to both parties, to the women who get abused and to the men who are trained to be abusive. Our culture trains us to be both prey or predator, why can’t we simply be human?
