(This is a traditional Rally, with posters, 3 dance performances, a poetry reading, cookies, revolutionary music, coffee and a megaphone will be provided!)
As a part of Eve Ensler's global movement, One Billion Rising, on 2-14-13, Minneapolis women and men can stop what they are doing, join together in solidarity on the Stone Arch Bridge and Rally and dance to raise awareness to end global and local violence against women.
Schedule:
3:15 A Reading of the poem "One DANCE", read by Barb Lager
3:30-4:30 Rally: walk-out and strike with posters, revolutionary music, cookies and coffee, and a chance for everyone to speak on the megaphone if they would like
4:30 A dance performance regarding human trafficking by ColliDe Theatrical Dance Company
5:00 A Dance Performance entitled "Girl Power" by the dance ensemble of Minneapolis Southwest High School
5:30 Everyone dance to "Break the Chain"
5:30-7:00 More rallying, dancing, striking, chanting, coffee drinking, and cookie eating
****Please make your own posters that will raise awareness about violence against women. i.e. violence against women statistics, why you are rising, or global or current events revolving around violence against women****
***V-Day colors are red, pink, black and white, wear them and use them in your posters!
