Voices of Women: A Festival for Empowerment in Nepal

Nepal > Kathmandu > Basantapur Durbar Square, Kathmandu > 2014-03-08 > 11:00

About The Event

Women Empowerment Nepal (WEN) will celebrate this year's International Women's Day in joyful spirit, in the form of a Women’s Festival that calls attention to women's contribution to society. The major attraction will be a concert of women voices only, featuring well known female singers, female musical bands, and female presenters. Cultural dances and a female DJ will heighten the attraction of the event. We will showcase the achievements of women in Nepal, to be displayed through the stalls of women organizations, women entrepreneurs, workshops, and live art exhibitions. There will be food stalls featuring local and international cuisine. All proceedings from the festival will go towards establishing the 'Education and Empowerment Fund', a fund for children education and women empowerment. An important aim of the festival message goal is to raise public awareness about the power of women and rally for public support for women's causes, most especially to "End Violence Against Women".
