Iloilo Risers, in the Panay-Guimaras region of the Philippines, kicked off their One Billion Rising Revolution campaign last January 25th during the city’s annual “Dinagyang”street dancing festival, led by Gabriela Panay-Guimaras chapter.
Tumandok women joined One Billion Rising Revolution as they rise against the construction of Jaliar Mega Dam. The 11.2 billion peso dam project of the Philippine President’s Aquino administration will put a great portion of the Tumandok’s ancestral domain to imminent destruction. One Billion Rising Revolution Panay-Guimaras supports and Rises for the Tumandok’s call to stop the construction of Jaliar Mega Dam. Tumandok are the indigenous people of Panay, Philippines.
